Job Description: We are seeking a skilled and reliable School Bus Mechanic to join our transportation team. As a School Bus Mechanic, you will be responsible for performing routine maintenance and repairs on our fleet of school buses to ensure their safe and efficient operation.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform scheduled maintenance tasks such as oil changes, tire rotations, and brake inspections.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues.
  • Conduct routine inspections to identify potential issues and prevent breakdowns.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and procedures.
  • Keep accurate records of all maintenance and repairs performed.
  • Communicate effectively with other team members and supervisors.
  • Willing to work towards CDL and serve as a fill-in bus driver.
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a mechanic, preferably with school buses or similar vehicles.
  • Ability to use diagnostic tools and equipment effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of diesel engines and HVAC systems is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.

Schedule: 8 hours/day, 185 days per year

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions,

proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.

 

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in

situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of

instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

EDUCATION:

        High School diploma or equivalent

        Vocational Training in automotive and truck repair

  

Mandatory Conditions of Employment:

 

Successful clearance of the FBI and Washington State Patrol fingerprint background check.

Successful Washington State Sexual Misconduct clearance.

Completion of Federal I-9, Employment Verification Eligibility form.

 

This position is SEBB eligible, Medical, Dental, Vision, Retirement, Paid Holidays and Sick Leave 

Paid 8 hours at PSE negotiated Mechanic rate
