ASL Interpreter - Preschool
3 hours/day - 4 days/week
Job Description
. Assists deaf and hard of hearing students, individually or in groups, with lesson assignments
. Interprets or transliterates all language necessary during classroom instruction for the purpose
of facilitating effective communication.
. Modifies curriculum and classroom materials under the supervision of assigned teacher for the
purpose of meeting the needs of deaf or hard of hearing student/s.
. Prepares for daily classroom lectures, assemblies, and activities for the purpose of providing a
clear understanding and interpretation.
. Provides support to the deaf or hard of hearing student for the purpose of facilitating
communication and/or reinforcing classroom objectives.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include: working under limited supervision following standardized practices
and/or methods; providing information and/or advising others. Utilization of some resources
from other work units is often required to perform the job’s functions.
Job Requirements
. The ability to operate specialized equipment for the deaf and hard of hearing.
. Fluent in sign language.
. Ability to perform basic math, translate materials for ASL, compose a variety of documents,
and participate in discussions.
This position is contingent upon the continued enrollment of the student in the district. If the student is no longer enrolled, the position and employment will be terminated. |
