Assistant Coach Responsibilities and Expectations
Demonstrate knowledge of the sport and appropriate coaching techniques.
Adhere to all Washington State laws and district policies regarding conduct between a teacher/coach and student-athlete.
Teach and model sportsmanship, respect, skill development, and healthy living.
Serve as a positive mentor and role model while promoting academics as the first priority.
Work collaboratively and professionally with other coaches, officials, administrators, and staff.
Maintain current CPR and First Aid certification.
Report directly to the Head Coach and be supervised and evaluated by the Head Coach in conjunction with the Athletic Director.
Adhere to and help enforce all school, district, league, and WIAA rules and regulations.
Immediately report any violations, safety concerns, or suspected issues to the Head Coach.
Perform duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Head Coach.
Follow proper injury-response and care procedures when injuries occur.
Support and enforce established team discipline standards.
Refrain from the use of tobacco or alcohol at any time when student-athletes are present; violations may result in immediate dismissal.
Attend required school, league, and state meetings.
Participate in ongoing professional learning related to coaching techniques, rule updates, and instructional practices.
Compensation is based on the current extracurricular salary schedule.
Must successfully pass a Washington State background check and fingerprinting.
