Must be dynamic and creative in order to keep the students interested

Must possess knowledge of and ability to assist in Reading, Writing and Math instruction

Must able to lift 60 pounds

Assist the Special Education Teacher and the Regular Education Teacher in meeting the needs of the students

Assist students in maintaining on-task behavior
-
Develop and deliver classroom lessons using specially designed instructions
-
Provide opportunities for the students to practice independence and self-reliance
-
Analyze situations both in and out of the classroom and take appropriate action
-
Attend IEP meetings as requested
-
Supervise student on all field trips away from school
-
Attend to and instruct students in personal hygeine needs
-
Implement a behavior plan as designed by the teacher
-
Maintain appropriate records/documentation daily for a variety of purposes as assigned by the teacher(s)

Adhere to confidentiality standards
-
Assist with the preparation of classroom materials as requested
-
Flexibility in daily duties and routines as directed by the teacher
-
Tracking student/parent/school correspondence
-
First Aide/CPR card
-
Experience working with special needs students
-
Position is contingent upon the student’s continuing enrollment
-
Must have an AA degree or equivalent or have passed the Paraprofessional Assessment
- Other duties as assigned by the Principal/Special Education Teacher
- Must pass a valid Washington State Background Check
- Pay is based on the current PSE agreement
